About this Project
Blue Wing Honda (BWH) oversees three core business units: Honda Outdoors, Honda Marine, and Honda Motorbikes. As a leader in their respective markets, BWH aimed to integrate these entities into a cohesive online experience that rivals or surpasses their key competitors. The project began with the Honda Outdoors website, a highly integrated ecommerce platform built on Adobe Commerce (Magento 2).
The primary goal was to create an integrated website experience that would improve conversion rates, streamline content management, and enhance SEO performance. Given the diversity of their product lines and the varying needs of their customer base, BWH required a platform that could manage multiple websites under a single control system while catering to specific functionality and appearance needs for each business unit.
Our Approach
Engage Digital tackled this challenge by leveraging our bespoke product management system, Centra, built in Laravel, and integrating it with Adobe Commerce (Magento 2). This solution provided the necessary flexibility to meet BWH’s unique requirements and allowed seamless integration across all business units and dealer websites. Key aspects of the project included:
- Honda Outdoors Website Integration:
- Unified Control Platform: Integrated Honda Outdoors under a centralised CMS that allows for tailored functionality and appearance specific to outdoor power equipment.
- Enhanced Ecommerce Functions: Developed robust ecommerce functionalities, including complex product filtering and a ‘buy and suggest’ style cart to promote related products and upsells.
- Rollout to Honda Marine and Honda Motorbikes:
- Consistent Yet Customised Experience: Extended the integration to Honda Marine and Honda Motorbikes, ensuring a consistent user experience while allowing for business-specific customisations.
- Centralised Content Management: Managed common content across all sites, enabling easy transitions between product details from one business unit to another.
- Dealer Websites Management:
- Standardised Framework: Hosted and managed approximately 17 dealer websites under a standardised yet customisable framework, allowing dealers to brand and customise their sites while maintaining core functionalities.
- Localised Ecommerce Solutions: Provided options for both dealer and direct online sales, including a click-and-collect solution through local Honda dealers across New Zealand.
- ERP Integration:
- Infor M3 ERP Synchronisation: Integrated the website with Infor M3 ERP to manage product SKUs, pricing, stock levels, orders, invoicing, and shipping details, ensuring seamless data flow and consistency across all systems.
